Tibet to celebrate 40th anniversary of TAR establishment

www.chinanews.cn 2005-07-12 14:21:40

A continuous stream of Tibetan Buddhists were walking around the grand
Potala Palace, turning their rollers inscribed with Buddhist scriptures
along the road on which their forefathers had trodden. In recent years,
significant changes have taken place along the road. A large square has
been built at the foot of Potala Palace, and the road has become wider
and smoother. At present, many places are undergoing maintenance works to
welcome the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Tibet Autonomous
Region (TAR) with a brand-new look.
