Dr. Zhang Jian of the Beijing Sport University, who has successfully
crossed the Bohai Strait and the English Channel, announced to the media
on July 18th that he planned to swim across the Lingding Bay at midnight
of the Mid-autumn Festival on September 18th. Starting from the west side
of the Tai O Dock in Hong Kong's Lantau Island, Zhang will swim across
the Lingding Bay solo without stop and will land at Macau's Hac Sa. The
35-kilometer journey will take him about 12 to 15 hours. The photo shows
Zhang is training painstakingly in the natatorium.
